Edith Fox died on November 8, 1985, after a lengthy and courageous struggle with breast cancer. Married to George Foster, and the mother to three children, she lived on the shores of the Bay of Quinte in Sophiasburg. Edith was a farmer's wife and homemaker, an entrepreneur and business woman, a politician's wife; she was the pivotal force of the family. She lived in the same farmhouse most of her life, and when they finally moved after George's retirement from public office, it was to a new house built on the other side of the apple orchard - within sight of the old farmhouse! Edith Fox was the embodiment of caring motherhood - no wonder she readily took the name Foster. She grew up surrounded by the farm, its animals, land, crops and the accompanying cycles of birth and death. Her qualities form the essence of the Edith Fox Life and Loss Centre, established by her daughter Kathleen Foster-Morgan. |
